Who we are and what we do.

Esquire Barbershop is a small, community focused barbershop, located in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.

We aim to provide superior hair cutting services, regardless of age, gender, or skin color. All of our barbers are committed to perfecting their craft and giving the best experience possible. We want everyone to feel welcome at the barber shop, and are doing our best to make that happen.

We constantly work to improve our skills and adapt to the different clientele that come in. We all believe that a barber is never done learning, so we are forever trying to work harder and build on our talent.

In other words, we’re damn good at what we do, and we are only getting better.

FAQs

Do you cut women’s hair?

We don’t cut men’s hair or women’s hair; we cut short hair. Your gender does not effect your hair cut, or the quality of service you receive. We do not cut long hair, because we aren’t equipped to do so. If you’re unsure, call us and we can figure it out.

do you cut my type of hair?

Yes. We cut all types of hair. All of our barbers specialize in a lot of different things, so give us a call if you’re wary.

We are not equipped to do locks, dreads, twists, long hair, or hair-replacement systems.

Do you take venmo or zelle?

Some of our barbers do accept digital payments, however cash is preferred. This keeps us from having to pay transaction fees and processing fees. If you prefer to pay digitally, ask your barber.

There are ATMs located near the shop.

Do you cut children’s hair?

We would love to cut your child’s hair, as long as they can sit still in the chair and don’t disturb the other clients.

Please note that we do not charge less to cut children’s hair.

I’m running late for my appointment, is that okay?

If you’re running behind, give us a call. Generally we don’t accept clients who are 10 minutes late for their appointments, but you can always call and check.

What happens if I don’t show up for my appointment?

Please call the shop. It’s up to the barber whether or not you will get charged a ‘no-show’ fee.

If there’s not a person in the chair getting their hair cut, we’re not getting paid to be here, so please respect our time the same way we do yours.

Do I have to make an appointment?

We are a very busy shop, and we seldom have time to accommodate walk-in clients. Taking mostly appointments makes it so we can plan our days easier, you don’t have to sit and wait for extended periods of time, and so that we can foster closer relationships to all of our clients.

Why is my account blocked from making appointments?

Barbers may choose to block your appointment after excessive ‘no-call, no-show’ missed appointments.

A client may also be blocked for other reasons. Chances are, if your account is blocked, there is good reason for it. If you feel this is a mistake, please call us so we can get it sorted out!

Can i pet the dog?

Yes! Her name is Nyla, and she’s very friendly.

You can take her photo, too. Just make sure you don’t disturb her, and tag us in the photo!
